What does Landmark offer?
Landmark offers more than 55 different courses, with
the entry level course being The
Landmark Forum. While each program is complete in
itself, Landmark’s basic curriculum, called “The
Curriculum for Living,” is a four-part curriculum
designed so that the programs build on and enrich each
other. The Curriculum for Living consists of the
following four programs:
The
Landmark Forum
The Landmark Forum is specifically designed to bring
about positive and permanent shifts in the quality of
your life. These shifts are the direct cause for a new
and unique kind of freedom and power: the freedom to be
absolutely at ease no matter where you are, who you’re
with, or what the circumstance; and the power to be in
action effectively in those areas that are important to
you.
The
Landmark Forum in Action Seminar
This program, which is included in the tuition for The
Landmark Forum, is designed to allow you to deeply
integrate the abstractions of The Landmark Forum in your
life. The seminar takes place over 10 evening sessions,
usually during a three-month period. Each session is
three hours long and provides a structure of coaching
and support in converting problems to opportunities and
opportunities to action.
The Landmark Advanced Course
Almost everything we know argues that living powerfully
is accomplished by skillfully building on the past. The
Advanced Course poses that exactly the opposite is true
– that the most important determinant of our success, of
who we are, and of how we function, is not the past but
the future. The Advanced Course reveals the true power
and possibility available to each of us as human beings
– a power derived not from what is predictable but from
what is possible. This course leaves you with the
technology for creating and designing a future that is
informed by the past but is in no way limited by the
past. It gives a completely different quality to life in
the present – a freedom to live powerfully now.
The Landmark Self-Expression and
Leadership Program
Each of us has felt a sense of possibility and longed to
express it. Yet we often hold back, concerned that it
will be limited by circumstance or what others might
think. The Landmark Self-Expression and Leadership
Program provides the know-how to establish an
environment that invites and allows for your
self-expression. This program offers you an opportunity
to express yourself fully, make a difference, and be a
leader. Through this course, you will express your
thinking and ideas effectively in a way that calls forth
the alignment, cooperation, and partnership of others.
What other people
say:
The feedback that we have each received on these
individual courses, and the entire “Curriculum for
Living” as a whole, is overwhelmingly positive.
Many people say that their participation in Landmark
courses resulted in immediate and dramatic shifts in
terms of their ability to take effective action and go
beyond existing limits. The results are far-reaching,
usually touching a wide variety of areas, including
relationships with friends, family and coworkers;
personal productivity; career; and people’s general
sense of fulfillment and satisfaction in life.
There are, of course, people for whom the programs are
not a perfect fit. Sometimes people have been asked a
few times if it is possible that someone could be
brainwashed by attending a Landmark program. The answer
is simple: Not only does Landmark in no way participate
in anything that could remotely be considered
brainwashing, but their programs are clearly designed
with the opposite intent. People are left free to think
for themselves. Sensational claims to the contrary are
in no way based in facts or direct experience of the
program.
There are many published opinions about Landmark,
including one written by Dr. Raymond Fowler, who at the
time was the
CEO of the American Psychological
Association. Dr. Fowler, who has no
professional or financial ties to the company, observed
the course on his own behalf, not on behalf of the APA,
and was quite clear in his assessment:
"In my personal opinion, The Landmark Forum is not a
cult or anything like a cult, and I do not see how any
reasonable, responsible person could say so."
This company, Landmark, has
had top
professionals participate and study their programs.
When you peruse their views and findings, please note
their credentials – you’ll find that the experts with
positive views of this company are all tops in their
field. These are professionals who are leaders in my
field of psychology, as well as in education and
business, who have reported very positively on, and in
many cases even personally endorsed, the courses of
Landmark.
What about the length of the programs?
There are people who say that the courses are too long (ie:
The Landmark Forum is three days of 9:00 a.m. until 10
p.m.). The programs are long, much like a high level
college-summer program that is condensed to shorten the
session calendar. The course time is necessary to
accomplish the goals of the course within a 3-day
structure.
